There are many people in New Zealand who are of Scottish descent, particularly the further south you travel in these islands. Famous Kiwis of Scottish descent include the writers James Baxter and Janet Frame. Two less well known Scots who contributed to NZ’s Scottish heritage are my great great uncle, John Cathcart Wason, and an Orcadian, John George Laughton.
